ST. CHARLES -- Taking on a St. Charles private school that moved up a class due to MSHSAA's class-deciding rules, the No. 8 seed Fulton Hornets fell 8-0 by mercy rule to the top-seeded Duchesne Pioneers in the Class 2 District 3 tournament quarterfinals Saturday at Orchard Farm High School.

Fulton didn't record a shot on goal, as second-team all-conference goalkeeper Grace Ousley made 17 saves on 25 shots on goal.

"I am very sad that our season has come to a close, but I am so incredibly proud of each member of this team," Fulton coach Abby Wilson said. "They have shown amazing growth over the course of this season. They always worked hard and were supportive of one another, and today was no exception. They are an amazing group to be around, and I could not be prouder of them."

The Hornets failed to win a district match for the eighth straight season. In 2013, Fulton won its last district game, beating Southern Boone 3-0 to win its second and final game that season.
