South Callaway, New Bloomfield track and field compete in Class 2 District 4 championships

MOKANE -- South Callaway and New Bloomfield competed in the Class 2 District 4 track and field championships Saturday at South Callaway High School.

At the time of publication, the complete team standings were unavailable. However, Bulldogs coach Stephen Wisch said South Callaway's boys team placed second.

Starting with the Bulldogs' boys team, they had one all-district finish in the individual track events, with Ayden Munford finishing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (personal record of 18.21 seconds).

South Callaway's all-district boys relay teams were its 4x100 team of Trevor Wilson, Cole Brewer, Tayber Gray and Evan Sconce-Martin (second with PR of 44.57) and 4x200 team of Wilson, Brewer, Gray and Sconce-Martin (fourth with PR of 1:36.66).

Last but not least, the Bulldogs' boys all-district field finishes were Colten Crocker, who won the district title in the pole vault (PR of 12 feet, 6 inches), Wilson second in the long jump (PR of 20-08.43), Sconce-Martin third in the triple jump (PR of 40-06.61), Kyle Dickison was the district championship in the discus (148-05.1) and finished fourth in the shot put (40-09.76), Nathan Russell earned the district title in the javelin (149-04.13) and Nathan Hecktor second in the javelin (PR of 143-04.08).

The Lady Bulldogs' all-district finishes were Reece Pahl winning the district title in the 100 dash (PR/school record of 12.12) and long jump (PR of 15-08.19) and second in the 200 dash (26.65), Kelsey Wetherell fourth in the high jump (4-07.91) and Lacey Matthews winning the district championship in the pole vault (PR/school record of 9-08.54).

"All the athletes, alumni, parents/families, teachers, staff and administration that worked together to run off a double district with 32 different teams!" South Callaway coach Wisch said. "What a great example of how amazing this community is! There is no place better!"

New Bloomfield's lone boys all-district finish was its 4x400 team taking third with a time of 3:40.51.

The Lady Wildcats earned three all-district placings: Myah Briggs winning the district title in the 300 hurdles (48.88), 4x400 relay taking third (4:36.59) and Isabella Talbot third in the pole vault (8-06.76).

South Callaway's and New Bloomfield's all-district athletes will compete in the Class 2 Sectional 2 championships Saturday at South Shelby High School in Shelbina.
