Blue Jays blow out Principia College 11-1 in Game 1

ELSAH, Ill. -- The Blue Jays started their series against Principia College, winning 11-1.

The Blue Jays will finish the series later this week.

Game 1

On the mound, the Blue Jays started freshman Derek Archer (St. Charles/Francis Howell North).

Archer went four innings facing 16 batters, giving up five hits and striking out four.

Coming in to help Archer was a combined help from Ben Kennebeck (St. Louis/St. Louis University High), Brayden Knittel (Ballwin/Marquette), Kobe Allen (Maryland Heights/Pattonville) and Kaden Eirhart (Altamont, Ill./Altamont). They combined for four innings giving up one hit, and struck out seven batters.

Coming out with the win was Kennebeck making him 2-2 on the season.

The Blue Jays combined for 19 hits.

Leading the Blue Jays were Steven Diaz (Highland, Ill./Highland), Spencer Keiser (Old Monroe/Winfield), Troy Romero (Trophy Club, Texas/Byron Nelson), and Coltin Green (St. Anthony/St. Elizabeth).

Diaz ended the game 3-5, getting three runs and an RBI. Diaz also hit a double and a triple.

Kaiser went 3-4, getting one run and two RBI; Kaiser hit two triples.

Romero went 2-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Green went 3-5 with one run and two RBI.

The Blue Jays face Principia College starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Blue Jays look to go 12-9 in the conference and fight for a home conference playoff game.
