South Callaway Middle School social studies and instructional coach Danielle Hecktor was recently selected as the 2023 Middle School Educator of the Year by the Northeast Region of Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA).
She was presented with the award at the MSTA Recognition Banquet in Macon on Monday.
Prior to receiving the award at the banquet, MSTA Member Service Coordinator Sarah Papineau visited Hecktor to surprise her with the announcement and a bouquet of flowers.
Two South Callaway MSTA members were also awarded mini-grants during the banquet.
Caitlin Spencer, EMS library media specialist, received a $1,000 technology grant. Spencer will use these funds to purchase Wonderbooks -- audio and print read-along books – for the library.
Hannah Wood, library aide, received $500 for the Non-Certified Employee Grant. Wood will use these funds to purchase a book repair machine for the South Callaway Early Childhood Center.
