Fulton students participate in State Music Festival, receive gold

Fulton Public Schools students participated in the State Music Festival on Saturday, with several students receiving the highest ranks possible.

The festival was from April 27-29 at the University of Missouri.

Five students received gold medals in the instrumental competition.

The students who received gold are Joseph Winterbower (euphonium solo), Nate Buckwalter (alto sax solo and bassoon solo), Carter Meyerhoff (bass clarinet solo) and Louis Chuang (tenor sax solo).

Zane Sayler (tuba solo) and the Fulton saxophone quartet received silver medals. The saxophone quartet includes Jayna Davison (alto sax), Nate Buckwalter (alto sax), Demitrius Bowlds (tenor sax) and Louis Chuang (bari sax).

Demitrius Bowlds received a bronze medal for his tenor sax solo.

The band director is Kelly Neudecker, and the assistant director is Jake Hiley.

Five students received gold ratings in the vocal competition.

Kassidy McGrath received a gold rating for vocal solo. The Fulton miscellaneous ensemble also received a gold rating.

The ensemble members include Sharai Brandy, Madelein Cerneka, Kassidy McGrath, Gabby Nielsen and Danielle Trammell.

Demitrius Bowlds received a silver rating for vocal solo.

The vocal director is Christopher Elliott.
