William Woods baseball top Saint Mary, extend win streak to seven

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- The William Woods University baseball team extended its win streak to seven games with Wednesday evening's 5-3 win over the University of Saint Mary (Kan.).

With the win, the Owls improve to 15-8.

How it happened

The Owls took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first on Zach Krause's two RBI at bat and a caught stealing play where Kamron Morriss scored.

WWU plated its fourth on a Rylee Mabe sacrifice fly in the third and its fifth in the fourth inning on Isaiah Gibbs's RBI single.

USM scored one in the second, one in the sixth and one in the ninth.

The Owls recorded eight hits, with two players grabbing two hits each (Tyler Horton and Blain Tuepker).

Ian O'Malley's hit was a double.

Pitching: Jude Gremillion (3-0) came in relief and pitched two innings for the win. Tyler Abney (two) pitched the final inning and was credited with the save. Wyatt Fischer started on the mound and pitched two innings with three strikeouts. Carson Prescott pitched two innings, Kaleb Haley pitched one inning and Andrew Fyffe pitched one.
