South Callaway, New Bloomfield girls track and field start season at 2023 Russellville Open

RUSSELLVILLE -- South Callaway and New Bloomfield girls track and field racked up the medals at the 2023 Russellville Open Wednesday at Russellville High School.

Starting with the dash events, freshman Reece Pahl had quite the start to her high school track career. Pahl took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.53 seconds and the 200 with a time of 28.49. The Lady Bulldogs' Abbigail Patrick finished second in the 100 dash with a time of 14.25.

New Bloomfield's Myah Briggs placed second in two hurdles events -- 100 (19.13) and 300 (55.04).

The Lady Wildcats' relay teams earned second place in three events -- 4x100 (56.3), 4x400 (4:44.91) and 4x800 (13:04.28).

South Callaway's Pahl medaled in the high with a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches.

Rounding out the medalists, the Lady Bulldogs' Lacey Matthews-Honarmand won the pole vault with a distance of 9-06.25.

South Callaway and New Bloomfield will be back in action for the New Bloomfield Wildcat Relays at 2 p.m. Friday in New Bloomfield
