ASHLAND -- Taking on another formidable opponent, Fulton girls soccer was mercy-ruled for the third time in four matches this season.

The Fulton Hornets fell 8-0 to the Southern Boone Eagles Tuesday at Southern Boone High School.

Fulton (0-4) couldn't muster a single shot on goal, while its goalkeeper made many saves against Southern Boone (2-2).

"Need to bring more energy to the field," Fulton coach Andy McKee said.

While the Hornets were mercy-ruled for the third time on the year, all three losses have come against bigger/quality opponents -- Washington and Warrenton are Class 3 schools, while Southern Boone won a district championship last season.

The Fulton Hornets have their best chance at winning a game thus far this season when they travel to Owensville to face the Owensville Dutchgirls (1-2) at 5 p.m. Friday. Owensville was mercy-ruled 8-0 by St. Clair, Tuesday, its only goal this year came in a 1-0 victory at Fatima last Friday.
