Missouri women travel to Kansas for WNIT matchup

The Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks will meet in women’s basketball for the first time in more than 10 years tonight in a second-round game in the WNIT.

The tip is set for 6:30 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan. (ESPN-Plus).

Missouri (18-13) advanced to tonight’s game with a 61-51 victory last Thursday night against Illinois State at Mizzou Arena. Hayley Frank totaled 15 points for the Tigers, while Sara-Rose Smith came off the bench to total a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Kansas (20-11) defeated Western Kentucky 86-72 in its first-round game Friday night. Taiyanna Jackson had her 19th double-double of the season in the win for the Jayhawks with 21 points and 15 rebounds. She is averaging 15 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.

Missouri won the last meeting against Kansas, taking a 70-65 victory Feb. 18, 2012, in Lawrence. Kansas leads the all-time series 44-38 against Missouri.

The Missouri-Kansas winner will take on Nebraska in a third-round game in the tournament.
