Fulton girls track and field has two first-place finishers in Fulton Early Season Open

FULTON -- Fulton girls track and field began its season by competing against Rolla, California and Lighthouse Prep in the Fulton Early Season Open Friday at Fulton High School.

Two of the Hornets won events tracked for placing -- Heaven Hightower in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.44 seconds and Olivia Weaver in the 300 hurdles (56.39).

Behind Hightower, Fulton's finishes in the 100 dash were Weaver in fourth (14.00), Emmy Begemann fifth (14.06), Zoey Cooper seventh (14.13), Audrey Arnold 10th (14.29), Bre'Awn Richmond 13th (14.40), Aubrey Fleetwood 16th (14.75), Kora Johnson 18th (15.06), Makenzie Shock 24th (15.56), Allysun Phillippe 25th (15.58), Shawna Brimmage 27th (15.64), Shaylee Bucholz 28th (15.74), Anijah Ntiri 30th (15.93), Jada Vandeloecht 38th (17.64) and Alexea Schmidt 39th (18.21).

Hightower also had the Hornets' best finish in the 200 dash, placing second with a time of 28.96. Following Hightower, Fulton's Richmond took 10th (31.70), Fleetwood 13th (32.53), Johnson 14th (32.59), Emily Elias 16th (33.11), Arianna Connor 17th (33.50), Phillippe 18th (33.51), Bucholz 22nd (34.85), Ntiri 24th (35.37), Brimmage 25th (35.80).

Continuing her dominance in the dash events, Hightower ran the 400 in 1:13.71, which was the Hornets' best time. The Hornets' Kier Henderson ran the 400 in 1:16.18 and Connor in 1:16.47.

In the 1,600 run, Fulton's Sandra Santhuff finished second (6:52.95) and Jonna Vanzetti sixth (7:19.87).

For the 100 hurdles, the Hornets' Weaver placed second (19.08), Elias fourth (20.64) and Abigail Bonnel fifth (21.14).

Aside from Weaver's first-place finish in the 300 hurdles, Elias took seventh (1:09.32) and Bonnel eighth (1:10.14).

Moving on to the jump events, Begemann had Fulton's furthest jump in the long jump, going 4.41 meters. The Hornets' Hightower recorded a 3.97-meter leap, Greta Patten 3.20 and Brimmage 2.37.

Arnold registered a 9.05-meter jump for Fulton's longest triple jump, while Ntiri went 7.74.

The Hornets had the only relay team for the 4x800, and they finished it in 13:09.27.

Fulton's Patten registered a 1.68-meter throw for the pole vault, while Cooper had no height.

In the shot put, the Hornet's Grace Evans's throw went 8.53 meters and Kenzi Washington's 8.38.

Evans also had an excellent hurl for Fulton in the javelin, with her throw going 18.55 meters. Washington's were all scratches in the event.

Washington notched a 20.22-meter throw in the discus, which was the Hornets' best. Fulton's Evans went 17.07 and Schmidt 11.22.

Next, Fulton will participate in the Montgomery County Early Invite at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in Montgomery City.
