William Woods men’s tennis sweep Newman, extend win streak to four

FULTON -- The No. 6 William Woods University men's tennis team swept Newman University Wednesday afternoon, 7-0. The Owls are on a four-match win streak as they improve to 11-3.

Up next

The Owls next play (receiving votes) Midland University at 5 p.m. Saturday in St. Louis.

Singles

Vaclav Schneider won 6-0, 6-4 in the one singles.

Ben Grumley allowed just one point throughout the two sets, 6-0, 6-1.

Zinovii Nahirniak finished with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the three singles.

Patrick Shelepov won the four singles in the tiebreaker set, 2-6, 6-1, 10-1.

Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska scrapped out a win in the five singles, 7-6 (5), 7-5.

Robert Schorr grabbed an 8-5 win in the six singles.

Doubles

The Owls took a 1-0 lead over Newman following doubles play as they swept the courts.

Shelepov and Nahirniak in the two doubles finished first, ending with a 6-3 win.

Schorr and De Los Rios Kolejewska followed with a 6-3 win in the three doubles.

Schneider and Grumley finished out the doubles with a 7-5 win in the one doubles.
