The Callaway Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting Tuesday to celebrate the launch of the second annual Local Lemon. Fulton Mayor Steve Myers also presented a proclamation in honor of the program.

The Local Lemon is a program for local kids to learn how to start, own and operate a business. The program culminates in each participate running a lemonade stand on the Saturday, June 10.

The first Local Lemon was held in 2022.

14 participants are in the program this year.

Myers read a city proclamation to the Local Lemon participants and Chamber staff.

He said the City of Fulton is honoring the program, as it is a fun experience "that teaches youth to how start, own and operate their own business by opening a lemon(ade) stand."

The Local Lemon is made possible by several organizations and community members coming together, Myers said.

He said the Local Lemon participants are "encouraged to spend a little, save a little and share a little." The participants will donate some of their profits to a local charity of their choosing.

Myers declared June 10, 2023, as Local Lemon Day.
