CMCA helps individuals become Certified Nurse Assistants

Central Missouri Community Action has partnered with many community organizations to eliminate barriers for students looking to become Certified Nurse Assistants.

Last Wednesday, eight students were sponsored to gain their CNA certification. The students are set to graduate in July, according to a news release from CMCA.

In November 2022, CMCA saw a shortage in short-term health occupational training available in Callaway County, so it created a monthly virtual meeting with Job Point, Central Ozarks Private Industry Council and high school counselors in the area to analyze a way to promote these occupational trainings, a news release said.

Now, CMCA has paired with Job Point to provide CNA instructors, Callaway Electric Cooperative Community Room and Callaway County Health Department to provide training spaces, Fulton Manor to provide a local area for clinical training, Dreams to Reality to provide two sets of nursing scrubs, CMCA's Skill Up program and Financial Opportunity Center to provide employment coaching and COPIC to provide career training, the release said.

"This outcome could not happen without the dedicated partnership of local agencies coming together to address a community need and we are hopeful to be able to continue this partnership in the future," CMCA said.
