Tebbetts dinner to support man battling cancer

The monthly Tebbetts dinner for February will serve up tenderloins and also benefit a local man battling cancer.

The proceeds from the Feb. 3 fundraiser will go to Donnell Leimkuehler, a local man who has been fighting against kidney and bladder cancer for two years.

Leimkuehler, who is a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church and the Tebbetts Odd Fellows Lodge, is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments, an online Tebbetts update states.

Dinner service will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Tebbetts Community Center; a dine-in buffet and a carry-out option are available. It is $14 for adults and $5 for children. No drive-through will be available because of the unpredictable weather.

The menu consists of smothered tenderloin, smashed tators, green beans, corn and dessert. Gluten-free options are available upon request.

Organizers are looking for help to prepare for the dinner. Help is needed to prepare the dinner, serve food and clean up afterward. The schedule can be found in the online update.

The dinners for March and April will be a fish fry, the update states. The price will also increase for adults, as the price will be $15. The cost for children will remain the same.

The update from Tebbetts also states the Tebbetts Community Club purchased some land east of the Tebbetts Community Center, and it will be used for parking once the weather clears. The property was previously owned by Steve Smart.

The update finishes by announcing the dates of the annual Tebbetts Picnic, also known as Muttonfest. The event this year will be on Sept. 22-24.
