7th annual Valentines for Veterans begins

Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer announced the continuation of the Valentines for Veterans program on Thursday.

Valentines for Veterans "asks Third District residents to send a kind note thanking our nation's veterans for their service," according to a release.

This is the 7th year the program has been offered. Luetkemeyer began the program in 2016.

"I'm very thankful to the Third District participants who have helped us keep this program going for seven years and look forward to brightening the days of many Missouri veterans again this Valentine's Day," Luetkemeyer said in a release.

Over 10,000 valentines have been sent as part of the program, according to a column from Luetkemeyer.

The program has the following guidelines:

• Do not include your address or last name.

• Do not address the valentine to a specific person.

• Do not seal the valentines in individual envelopes.

• Do not use glitter.

• Call before dropping off valentines.

The Jefferson City District Office's phone number is 573-635-7232, and is located at 2117 Missouri Blvd.

Valentines for Veterans can either be dropped off or mailed to the office. Submissions are accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.
