Walsworth in Fulton has begun the installation process for a brand new printing press for the facility.

The printing press is a Goss M600 and it's being shipped from Brisbane, Australia.

The printing press is being shipped in several seperate shipments. The first of 20 truckloads arrived in Fulton on Nov. 22, according to a release from Walsworth.

It is expected to be up and running in February.

The new G0ss M600 is 175 feet long and weighs several thousand pounds, according to a release. The printing press has an expected life of more than 20 years.

Walsworth operators who worked with the previous printing press will be trained on the new press. The new press will allow workers to do their jobs with "less physical handling due to automation," a release states.

"This new press means more output with less physical handling required," Walsworth Fulton plant manager Kevin Werdehausen said in a release. "It's an excellent step forward for us."

The capabilities of Fulton's Walsworth will be nearly doubled while also reducing waste.
