MU women look to snap six-game losing streak

COLUMBIA -- After winning their first three SEC games, the Missouri Tigers have dropped six consecutive contests.

Now the Tigers are returning from a two-game road trip to try to break the skid against the Vanderbilt Commodores at 8 p.m. today at Mizzou Arena.

Missouri (14-8, 3-6 Southeastern Conference) enters the game off a 77-54 loss Sunday at Kentucky.

Senior forward Hayley Frank led the Tigers in scoring for the third consecutive game, notching 21 points to raise her team-leading average to 14.7 per game. Frank is now 12th all time in Tiger history with 1,407 career points, 26 behind Jordan Frericks (2013-18) for 11th.

Graduate guard Lauren Hansen is the lone other Tiger averaging double-figure scoring at 13 points per game. Hansen sits just 41 points away from the 1,000 mark for her career. Junior guard Sara-Rose Smith leads the Tigers with 7.0 rebounds per contest coming off the bench, she is one of only two players nationally to record five double-doubles off the bench.

Vanderbilt (10-12, 1-7) comes into tonight off an 88-79 win against Texas A&M, which ended a seven-game Commodore losing streak.

Graduate guard Ciaja Harbison (5-foot-6) leads the Commodores with an average of 19.6 points per game to go with 3.3 rebounds and more than two steals per contest, shooting 40.9 percent (124-for-303). Graduate guard Marnelle Garraud (5-7) is second for Vanderbilt with an average of 13.7 points per game, while sophomore forward Sacha Washington (6-2) scores 9.7 points per game, brings down 7 rebounds and blocks 1.5 shots per game.

Vanderbilt scores 66.8 points per game and allows 68.2, while Missouri scores 65.7 points per game and allows 61.2. Missouri shoots 43.5 percent as a team overall and 34.2 percent from 3, placing the Tigers fourth in the SEC in 3-point efficiency.

Today will be the 11th meeting between the programs with Missouri holding a 7-3 lead in the series.
