Fulton girls basketball wins second game in as many days

Fulton girls basketball kept up its strong performance to start the week by winning its second straight game in as many days.

After losing to Bowling Green earlier in the season, the Hornets avenged the loss by beating the Bobcats 41-38 Wednesday in Fulton.

Down 22-21 at halftime, Fulton outscored Bowling Green 20-16 in the second half. The Hornets had an impressive third quarter defensively, holding the Bobcats to four points.

Offensively, Sam Hedgpath guided Fulton with 10 points, while Audrey Arnold had a big second quarter and finished with seven. Three Hornets scored six points, while seven out of 10 players scored.

Meanwhile, Sydney Charlton led Bowling Green's offense with a game-high 13 points. The Bobcats only had one other player score at least five points -- Kaelynn Wommack with nine.

With the result, Fulton improves to 6-14, while Bowling Green falls to 8-11.

"Girls played really hard considering the effort put out in last night's game," Fulton coach Matt Wilbers said. "Definitely faced some adversity and battled through it with much more maturity than weeks past."

The Hornets will hope to win their third straight when they face Macon (6-12) at 7 p.m. Friday in Macon.
