Free turkey hunting program to be held in Montgomery City

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a free turkey hunting program in Montgomery City in March.

The program will teach hunters the basics of spring turkey hunting, according to a release from the MDC.

Participants in the program will learn "the basics of turkey biology, scouting, calling, proper hunt setup, hunting safety, and more," a release states.

MDC's turkey hunting program will be on Mar. 18 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. It will take place at the Montgomery City Public Library (224 North Allen St.).

12 spots are available for the program.

This program is free and open to the public. Participants must be ages six or older.

Registration for the event is required, and can be completed MDC's website.

The MDC is also hosting a trout fishing event at Veterans Park in Fulton. This event is on Feb. 8 and will teach participants about proper fish-cleaning techniques.
