Sheriff’s office arrest man for Kingdom City theft

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Wednesday for connection to a stolen tractor.

On Aug. 19, a local farmer reported stolen property from his land near Kingdom City, a CCSO release states.

The farmer had a Ford tractor, a front-end loader and a car hauler trailer stolen. The combined value of the items were over $25,000.

Sheriff's office deputies conducted a follow-up investigation in the 4500 block of County Road 220 on Aug. 23. While searching the property, all of the items were recovered. Additional stolen items were also found.

Brenton Stith, 36, was found hiding inside the property.

He was arrested for the felony charges of burglary (second degree), tampering with a motor vehicle (first degree), property damage (first degree) and stealing ($25,000 or more).

A judge denied Stith bail, a release states.

At the time of his arrest on Aug. 19, Stith was out on bond from an investigation in May. At that time, a stolen UTV, tilt trailer and other stolen items were found on his property. He was charged with felony stealing and tampering with a motor vehicle (first degree). Stith's bond was set at $25,000, which he posted.

The CCSO states Stith has the following felony convictions:

Boone County -- receiving stolen property (felony), sentenced to five years of supervised probation and five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Callaway County -- possession of a controlled substance (felony), sentenced to five years of supervised probation and five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Callaway County -- forgery (felony), sentenced to five years of supervised probation and five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
