The Callaway County Sheriff's Office has welcomed a new K9 to their task force, after completion of training.
The K9, Tajfun, and his handler, Sgt. Alan LeBel, completed the Basic Handler Course at the Boone County Sheriff's Office, K9 Training Center on July 28.
The program focuses on obedience, tracking, apprehension techniques and narcotic detection, among other critical skills necessary for a successful K9 unit, according to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
Tajun received certifications from the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) and the Missouri Police Canine Association (MPCA).
This is the second K9 LeBel has been partnered with.
"K9 Tajfun and Sgt. Alan LeBel are ready to serve and protect Callaway County and surroundings agencies," the Facebook post said.
