Karen Digh Allen, public administrator of Callaway County, was recently appointed to several committees in the National Association of Counties (NACo).
According to a release, Allen was appointed to the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee (Courts and Corrections Subcommittee) as the subcommittee vice chair, Rural Action Caucus (RAC) as a member and the Veterans and Military Services Committee as a member.
Mary Jo McGuire, president of NACo, said she is pleased to select Allen for these roles.
"Her (Allen's) active involvement and invaluable contributions will play a pivotal role as we advance our mission to foster better outcomes through enhanced trust, engagement, and collaboration," McGuire said in a release.
Allen's appointments to the committees go towards achieving the objectives of the "Forward Together" initiative.
The three main tenants of the initiative are "connect and build bridges, inspire civic engagement, and lead intergovernmental partnerships."
NACo was founded in 1935, and serves nearly 40,000 elected officials and 3.6 million county employees.
