Sheriff’s office arrests Columbia shooting suspect

Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a suspect for a shooting in Columbia on Thursday.

Da'Marien Simmons, 19, of Columbia, was wanted for a Boone County felony warrant in reference to a shooting investigation in Columbia.

Simmons faced the felony charges of assault (first degree), armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, assault (second degree) and tampering with a motor vehicle (first degree), according to a CCSO release.

The Columbia Police Department requested assistance from the CCSO in locating Simmons, as it was possible he was concealed in a residence in the area near Millersburg.

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, several deputies with the CCSO converged on a residence in the 1700 block of County Road 230 located north of Millersburg, a release states.

The deputies located Simmons and took him into custody without incident.

He was transferred to the CPD custody, and later booked at the Boone County Jail on a no hold bond.
