William Woods women's tennis dropped its first match of the season, losing 5-2 against Missouri-St. Louis Sunday in Fulton.
The Owls' Hanna Lindeboom and Marta Calvo Larraz lost 1-6 against Hannah Tse and Maja Lietzau in the No. 1 doubles match.
Woods' Eline Drent and Lena Greefs lost 4-6 against Anna Domingo and Anna Favaron in the No. 2 doubles match.
In the No. 3 doubles match, the Owls' Lilla Komiszar and Zara Littlejon fell 3-6 against Lisa Kirr and Kaitlyn Challis.
Woods' Lindeboom dropped the No. 1 singles match against Domingo in two sets (4-6, 6-7).
The Owls' Calvo Larraz lost the No. 2 singles match against Lietzau in two sets (1-6, 5-7).
In the No. 3 singles match, WWU's Greefs beat Kirr in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
UMSL got back into the win column in the No. 4 singles match as the Owls' Drent lost 1-6, 0-6 against Tse.
Woods' Littejon won the first set but lost in three (6-3, 1-6, 3-10) against Favaron in the No. 5 singles match.
The Owls' got their second and final match victory in the final matchup of the day, as WWU's Komiszar defeated Challis (6-3, 6-1).
Next up, William Woods (0-1) will take part in Day 1 of the Intercollegiate Regional Tournament Friday in Wichita, Kansas.
