William Woods men’s tennis sweeps UMSL

In its first match of the season, William Woods men's tennis beat Missouri-St. Louis 7-0 Sunday in Fulton.

The Owls' Vaclav Schneider and Vitek Subert beat Jose Mayorga and Joshua Mackey 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles match.

Woods' Andrej Jovanovic and Ben Grumley defeated Juan Vigil and Tanin Ramnath 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles match.

In the No. 3 doubles match, the Owls' Zinovii Nahirniak and Robert Schorr won 6-4 against Pascal Maclean-Wood and Raphael Kerndl.

Woods' Schneider won in two sets (6-1, 6-0) versus Vigil in the No. 1 singles match.

The Owls' Nahirniak defeated Mayorga in two sets (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 2 singles match.

In the No. 3 singles match, Subert took down Kerndl in two sets (6-4, 6-1).

Woods' Shelepov took all 12 points in a two-set (6-0, 6-0) victory against Mackey in the No. 4 singles match.

The next match was the closest matchup as the Owls' Grumley beat Ramnath in two sets (7-5, 6-2) in the No. 5 singles match

Capping off the matches for the day, Woods' Schorr defeated Malean-Wood in two sets (6-2, 6-1).

Up next, William Woods (1-0) will compete in Day 1 of the Intercollegiate Regional Tournament Friday in Wichita, Kansas.
