Westminster men’s soccer loses against Webster

Westminster College men's soccer was on the backfoot in its 1-0 loss against St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Webster Saturday in Fenton.

The Gorlocks' pressing was too much for the Blue Jays as it outshot Westminster 25 to nine.

All of those shots meant Blue Jays' goalkeeper Toby Hughes was needed quite often. Hughes made eight saves on nine Webster shots on goal.

That one goal Hughes didn't save was scored late in the match by Robby Percival in the 88th minute; Bryce Bucheit was credited with the assist.

Travis Bieg led Westminster in shots on goal with three but Webster goalkeeper Ty Baudendistel denied all three attempts. Baudendistel kept a clean sheet, stopping all four shots he faced.

Next up, Westminster (1-7, 1-3 SLIAC) will play Greenville (2-2-3, 2-0-2) at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Greenville, Illinois.
