Westminster football falls to Rhodes on the road

For the fourth game in a row, Westminster College football was unable to register double-digit points, losing 56-6 against Rhodes Saturday in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Blue Jays scored their only six points after the Lynx put all 56 of theirs on the board.

With Westminster's defense on the field for 32:14, the Blue Jays' defense got quite a lot of action.

Dawson Brandt led Westminster on defense with 10 tackles (nine solo, one assisted), which was five more than any other player on the team.

Blue Jays quarterback Reece Davidson's 37-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Clapsaddle was their only scoring play; it occurred with 6:00 left in the fourth quarter.

Rhodes running back Elijah Bane scored three of its touchdowns and ran 59 yards. Another Lynx player with a big game offensively was quarterback Luke Macias, who completed 14-of-17 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown.

On defense, Rhodes was led by outside linebacker Kobe Bins and defensive lineman Nathaniel Pride, who notched 1.5 sacks apiece. The pair's sacks combined for 21 yards for loss.

What Westminster will have to do next game is get its offense going, as the Blue Jays only recorded 87 yards of total offense.

Up next, Westminster (0-4) will open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a game against Minnesota-Morris (1-3) at noon Saturday in Fulton. It will be the Blue Jays' Homecoming game and Family Weekend as well.
