South Callaway softball splits doubleheader at Montgomery County

South Callaway softball beat Montgomery County 6-2 then lost 10-0 against Palmyra in a doubleheader Saturday in Montgomery City.

Against Montgomery County, Kesler Finney's two-run single in the first inning started the scoring. Alaney Miller led the offense, going 2-3 with three RBI. Reagan Arrowood, Abbi Patrick and Kelsey Wetherell also added two hits apiece for South Callaway.

McKenzie Laughlin struck out eight and walked two in the complete-game victory, scattering seven hits throughout the game.

The Lady Bulldogs ended up on the losing end in their second game, as Palmyra grabbed the lead early with a six-run second. South Callaway couldn't muster much offense, with Molly Slizewski collecting the only hit for the Lady Bulldogs.

Up next, South Callaway (9-6) will host Fayette (17-2) for Senior Night at 5 p.m. Monday in Mokane.
