Peityn Thomas didn't allow a single run against Eugene, throwing a complete-game shutout and leading New Bloomfield softball to a 7-0 victory Thursday in Eugene, Missouri.

The Lady Wildcats secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. Emma Clark, Avery Nichols and Raegan Smart each had RBI in the frame.

New Bloomfield opened up scoring in the second inning when Clark singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for the Lady Eagles was a single by Shaeltn Boessen in the first inning.

Thomas was credited with the victory for the Lady Wildcats. The hurler went seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits, striking out eight and walking none.

"Peityn once again pitched great," New Bloomfield coach Zach Moore said. "Defense played great behind her."

Kaylee Kempker was in the circle for Eugene. Kempker surrendered seven runs on 10 hits over three innings, striking out one and walking none. Ashlynn Kliethermes threw four innings out of the bullpen.

New Bloomfield saw the ball well Thursday, racking up 12 hits in the game. Nichols, Kynsie Herron, Brinley Dysart and Brooklynn Smith each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Wildcats. Nichols led New Bloomfield with three hits in four at-bats.

"The team hit the ball well, and had some great approaches at the plate," Moore said.

The Lady Wildcats were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Macie Abbott had the most chances in the field with four.

"Macie Abbott and Raegan Smart locking down the left side, with an abundance of nice plays," Moore said. "Also freshman catcher Myah Briggs with a great diving catch. She's been unbelievable behind the plate this season, sometimes I forget she's a freshman. Makes the pitchers' life easy."

Up next, New Bloomfield (10-5) will take part in the AA softball tournament Saturday in Russellville.
