South Callaway softball defeats Vienna

South Callaway softball edged Vienna 6-5 Thursday in Mokane.

Alaney Miller went 3-for-4 and scored three times for the Lady Bulldogs. Starting pitcher McKenzie Laughlin and Abbi Patrick each added two hits, driving in two and three runs, respectively.

South Callaway crossed the plate three times in the second, courtesy of Laughlin's two-run home run and a double off the center-field wall by Regan Arrowood followed by Patrick's RBI single.

"We came out swinging tonight, and found a way to get a quality win in a tough ball game," South Callaway coach Rusty Creed said. "Vienna is a solid team, as their 15-2 record shows. We showed our potential a bit better tonight, which will hopefully get us rolling again."

Laughlin earned the complete-game victory, walking one and striking out four.

South Callaway (8-5) will return to the diamond to face Montgomery County (3-11) at 9 a.m. Saturday in Montgomery City
