New Bloomfield baseball cruised to an easy victory against Jamestown, winning 12-3 Thursday in Jamestown.
In the first inning, the Eagles got their offense started when an error scored one run for Jamestown.
The Wildcats pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Michael Leason double on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs and Brendon Carter singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
New Bloomfield tallied five runs in the sixth inning. Elie Bailey, Gavin Thomas and Leason each drove in runs during the inning.
Braden Jackson pitched the Wildcats to victory. Jackson surrendered one run on six hits over 3 ⅔ innings, striking out six and walking none. Wyatt Jordan threw ⅓ inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Tate Duncan was on the mound for the Eagles. The righty lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out six. Landen Allen and Brayden Schoenthal entered the game as relief, throwing 1 ⅓ inning and ⅔ inning respectively.
Thomas started the game for New Bloomfield. The right-hander went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking one.
The Wildcats tallied one home run on the day. Bailey went deep in the sixth inning.
New Bloomfield racked up 12 hits. Dorian Meyer, Leason, Jackson and Thomas all collected multiple hits for the Wildcats. Meyer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead New Bloomfield in hits. The Wildcats stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Matthew Killian led the way with two.
Jamestown totaled ten hits in the game. Duncan, Skyler Duncan and Luke Baepler all managed multiple hits for the Eagles. Duncan led Jamestown with three hits in four at-bats.
Next up, New Bloomfield (5-7) will play New Franklin (10-0) at 5 p.m. Monday in New Bloomfield.
