Gehring, William Woods men’s golf take third at WWU Fall Invitational

William Woods men's golf finished third in the WWU Fall Invitational after posting a 5-over-par 581 Tuesday at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton.

The Owls were just one stroke out of tying Columbia College for second place and two out from first. Central Methodist won the invitational, signing for a 579.

Woods' "B" team placed fifth, recording a 600 (299-301).

Tom Gehring tied for third, posting an even-par 144 (70-74). He shot three birdies, 11 pars, three bogeys and one double bogey.

Brayden Buffington finished in a four-way tie for sixth, signing for a 146 (73-73). He shot four birdies, 10 pars, three bogeys and one double bogey.

Jack Stark moved up 15 spots to finish in a five-way tie for 10th place, recording a 147. He shot three birdies, 13 pars and two bogeys for 1-under par. Arron Patel and Trey Hamilton also tied for 10th (74-73). Patel shot two birdies, 14 pars, one bogey and one double bogey, and Hamilton shot three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys.

Aiden Asby tied for 19th, shooting a 150 (73-77). He shot four birdies, eight pars, four bogeys and two double bogeys.

Theo Brown tied for 23rd, posting a 152 (77-75). He shot a birdie, 13 pars and four bogeys.

Pheemawat Wimonrat and Spencer Worley finished in a four-way tie for 28th, posting a 154. Wimonrat (74-80) shot 14 pars, one bogey and three double bogeys, and Worley (83-71) shot four birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys.

Reece McMurdo tied for 38th, posting a 160 (79-81). He shot two birdies, 10 pars, two bogeys and four double bogeys.

Evan LaPosha tied for 44th, shooting a 164 (81-83), Thomas Crum placed 54th and shot a 178 (86-92) and Grant Mach placed 55th and recorded a 181 (88-93).

Also competing in the invitational was Westminster College. The Blue Jays lackluster Round 2 showing kept them in the last-place spot (11th) after signing for a 777.

Westminster's Cole Lehman tied for 41st, signing for a 163; Ben Scheve tied for 57th and posted a 192; Collin Siebel-Spath placed 60th and shot a 200; Connor Siebel-Spath placed 63rd and posted a 222.

Next up, William Woods will tee off in Day 1 of the CC Cougar Classic on Oct. 3 at Columbia Country Club in Columbia. Westminster's schedule for this season is currently unavailable.
