US 63 bridge work to require ramp closure

by Staff Reports | September 20, 2022 at 4:00 a.m.

A project to improve U.S. 63 between Columbia and Jefferson City will require the closure of an interchange ramp north of Jefferson City later this week.

Starting Wednesday, the westbound U.S. 54 exit ramp to northbound U.S. 63 will be closed for approximately two weeks. Missouri Department of Transportation officials said this is necessary to complete rehabilitation of the northbound 63 bridge over Oilwell Road.

Motorists will be detoured around the closure, going west on 54 utilizing the Route W interchange to turn around and head north back to the 63 interchange. Message boards will be in place to inform drivers of the closure and detour.

This work is part of a project to improve the driving surface and complete bridge rehabilitation work along 63 from Route B in Boone County to 54 north of Jefferson City.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
