William Woods men's golfer Tom Gehring is in first place after Round 1 of the WWU Fall Invitational Monday at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton.
Gehring signed for a 2-under-par 70 and has a one-stroke lead over three golfers tied for second.
As a team, the Owls shot a 4-over-par 292, which is good enough to be tied for second. Central Methodist is in first after posting a 297.
Woods' Brayden Buffington and Aiden Asby are tied for eighth and shot 1-over, Trey Hamilton, Aaron Patel and Pheemawat Winomrat (all three B golfers) tied for 14th at 2-over, Jack Stark is tied for 25th at 4-over, Theo Brown (B) tied for 28th at 5-over, Reece McMurdo tied for 34th at 7-over, Evan LaPosha (B) tied for 39th at 9-over, Spencer Worley tied for 42nd at 11-over, Thomas Crum (B) tied for 48th at 14-over, Grant Mach (B) tied 53rd at 16-over.
Fellow Fulton school Westminster College is also competing in the invitational. The Blue Jays are in last place (11th) after posting a 377.
Westminster's Cole Lehmen is tied for 34th and carded a 79, Colin Siebel-Spath tied for 56th and posted a 95, Ben Scheve 59th and shot a 96 and Connor Siebel-Spath 63rd and signed for a 107.
