Fulton Rotary awards law enforcement officer

The 2022 G.W. Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award was presented at Wednesday's Rotary meeting.

Sergeant Billy Kamp, of Callaway County Sheriff's office, was the recipient of the award. This year there were four nominations for the award.

"I just want to thank everyone. It's nice to have support here locally," Kamp said.

"On behalf of Rotary Club, I want to thank everyone for your service to the community and service to citizens," said Fulton Rotary president Allen Huggins.

Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award was created in 1998 as a means for the Rotary Club to commemorate former Callaway County Sheriff George W. Law for his service to, and ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Callaway County.

The award gives an opportunity for the Rotary to say thank you to the law enforcement community as a whole for the service they provide. It recognizes a local law enforcement officer each year who goes above and beyond the normal call of duty by demonstrating consistent adherence to the Rotary ideal of "service above self."
