City, schools partner on after-school program

The city and Fulton School District have partnered for the Legends After-School Program for the 2022-23 academic year.

Fulton Public Schools will be responsible for busing the Legends After-School participants from Bush, McIntire and Bartley Elementary schools to the Legends Rec-Plex located at 808 State St.

Transportation will take place after school only, with pick up times based on school schedules and estimated drop-off times at the Legends Rec-Plex being 3:30-3:50 p.m.

FPS will assume all liability for all riders during the transportation process.

Legends Rec-Plex will provide a staff member to meet each bus daily at the Legends front entrance and escort participants inside the building. At that time, Legends staff will record attendance.

Clay Caswell, director at Fulton Parks and Recreation, said students will play games or work on their school work at the center. He said with the program being new, they are trying different things for students to do.

"We appreciate the city doing the after-school program," FPS Superintendent Ty Crain said. "We want to support that and transport kids from McIntire to Bartley."

Legends will not provide the program on days that school is not in session. In the case of FPS declaring an unscheduled early dismissal from school, the program will be closed for that day and no transportation will take place.

In the event of the school year being extended beyond the regularly scheduled academic year, FPS will provide transportation and Legends will provide the after-school program on any additional dates.
