Benefit to help raise funds for community member

A benefit is set for Saturday for a well known community member.

Mark Moser has been a good friend to many people in the community.

He has worked at Moser's Grocery store in the meat department for several years.

Moser loves racing and has helped kids with go-kart racing in Auxvasse.

Lonnie Wyman Jr., owner of the Hams Prairie International Speedway, has known Moser since 1986 through friends from racing.

Moser was in the hospital for 60 days and has had many medical bills.

Wyman said he wanted to do something to give back to him and that's when the idea for a benefit started.

"He always gave back," Wyman said. "He is an all around good person."

The benefit at Hams Prairie International Speedway is about giving back to someone who gave back in a time of need, he said.

100% of the proceeds will go to Moser to help with his medical expenses.

At the track, pits are $20 and stands are $5. The pits open at 10 a.m. and stands at 11 a.m.

Wyman owns a go-kart track where the fundamentals of racing are taught and Moser has been a big part of it.

"He's not just a friend, he's family," Wyman said.

Everyone that knew Moser is welcome to come, he said.

The benefit is located at 6350 Wyman Road in Fulton and starts at noon Saturday.

Food will be served such as pulled pork, hamburgers, bratwursts, and more. There will also be a silent auction.
