Faith Maternity Care to hold 20 year celebration

Faith Maternity Care is celebrating 20 years with a celebration in November.

Shelley Knight, Executive Director of Faith Maternity Care , said it's the first celebration ever put on celebrating women and their babies in the community.

The celebration will be on Nov. 10 at Ohana Pizzeria, 61 W. 2nd St. in Fulton with food and festivities.

On the menu at the celebration will be salad and pasta, an appetizer, and dessert.

Messages from the founders of the program will be presented during the celebration. There will also be some success stories from women from the Faith Maternity Care program.

The social and silent auction will start at 5 to 6:30 p.m.

A celebration program will follow from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Kingdom Ministries' Faith Maternity Care of Mid-Missouri is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt, faith-based maternity home that provides housing and other assistance to young mothers who choose life for their baby.

The goal of Faith Maternity Care is for women to live independently. Women are connected with resources for help from the program to provide the necessary life skills to empower mothers to succeed and become self-sufficient as they choose to parent their children or choose adoption as a path for their children.

There have been over 160 women in their residence program and over 155 babies born within the residencies, Knight said.

Knight said six women and their children can be housed in Fulton.

Faith Maternity was founded in July 2002 by Alan and Neena Lord.

While serving as director of the local crisis pregnancy center in Fulton, Neena Lord saw many women with unplanned pregnancies and no support.

In September 2008, Faith Maternity Care purchased a home to serve as the permanent residence of the ministry.
