Westminster women’s soccer wins back-to-back SLIAC games

Westminster College women's soccer won its second consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game, beating Blackburn 3-0 Wednesday in Carlinville, Illinois.

In each of those two games, the Blue Jays won by the same score, though they beat Spalding at home in the previous match on Saturday.

Like she did Saturday, Peyton Montana netted Westminster's first goal, scoring unassisted in the 6th minute.

The Blue Jays' final two goals were each player's first of the season.

Lauren Halamicek put Westminster up 2-0 with her goal in the 16th minute; Kelsey Gordon was credited with the assist.

During the second half, Blue Jays freshman Skyler English bagged her first collegiate goal in the 84th minute.

Another Westminster freshman with a quality performance was goalkeeper Delaney Burks, who won her first collegiate game and kept a clean sheet while she played the first 45 minutes. Meghan Quinones filled in for the second half.

Neither of the Blue Jays' two netminders had to make a save against the Beavers.

The result means Westminster remains unbeaten in away conference games, winning two and drawing two. The Bue Jays beat their next opponent, Eureka, 2-0 in their only other away conference victory.

Up next, Westminster (5-3-2, 4-1-2 SLIAC) will play Eureka (2-6, 1-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fulton.
