South Callaway girls cross country’s Holtmeyer takes 1st in Show-Me Conference meet

On its home course, South Callaway girls cross country runner Kilea Holtmeyer ran the fastest time in the girls' 5,000-meter run at the Show-Me Conference meet Wednesday in Mokane.

Holtmeyer clocked in at 22 minutes, 37.3 seconds, which was 5.9 seconds faster than Chamois' Madeline Gerloff who placed second.

After Holtmeyer, the Lady Bulldogs' Alexandra Spence placed 10th with a time of 24:55.4 and Shelby Doster 30th with a time of 35:56.3.

New Bloomfield's best finish in the girls' race was Kaelyn Tighe who took 13th with a time of 25:23.2.

Behind Tighe, the Lady Wildcats' Ella Trigg placed 18th with a time of 26:57.0 and Alexis Mears 31st with a time of 37:22.0.

South Callaway nor New Bloomfield had enough runners to qualify for a team score in the girls' race. Fatima won as a team with 26 points.

In the boys' race, Fatima won both the team and individual titles. As a team, the Comets scored 19 points while their runner Cody Kampeter took first in the race with a time of 18:21.5.

The Bulldogs' Dylan Dugan placed fourth and had the best time for a runner that wasn't on Fatima; he clocked in at 19:12.2.

Following Dugan, South Callaway's Nathan Russell placed 15th with a time of 20:35.4, Tucker Jones 16th with a time of 20:48.4, Cole Brewer 17th with a time of 20:48.8, Ayden Munford 23rd with a time of 22:02.2, Calvin Stuckey 27th with a time of 22:45.3 and Blaine Davis 30th with a time of 24:01.21.

Riley Connell was the Wildcats' fastest runner, finishing seventh with a time of 19:49.0.

Outside of Connell, New Bloomfield's finishes were Porter Hurt in 22nd with a time of 21:54.4, Ben Loseman 29th with a time of 23:54.1, Hunter Young 32nd with a time of 24:24.4, Ben Speaks 33rd with a time of 24:48.8 and Hunter Dawson 35th with a time of 28:00.7.

On the five-team leaderboard, South Callaway finished in third with 70 points while New Bloomfield took fifth with 112 points.

Up next, South Callaway and New Bloomfield will run in the Brian Simpson Invite at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
