Marty Martin-Forman will receive the Settler's Award at the upcoming Kingdom of Callaway Supper.

This award is given to someone not from Callaway County but has moved here. She moved to live in the county in 1980, but worked here the summer prior for work. Martin-Forman said she moved to Callaway County because she married into a family from here.

Since moving to the county, Martin-Forman has been very involved in the local community. She is currently a board member for the Fulton State Hopsital Foundation. She has previously served with the Callaway County Chamber of Commerce, Fulton Area Development Corporation, Callaway County Hospice Commission and the Callaway County 4-H Senior Council.

While in Callaway County, Martin-Forman has also accumlated a great deal of experience and awards. Most recently, she received the J.H. Atkinson Award from the Callaway County Chamber of Commerce in 2020. She has also previously received the leadership award from the Chamer of Commerce on two seperate occasions.

In 2016, Martin-Forman received an outstanding alumnus award from the Callaway Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association.

For the past 28 years she has been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and has served as worship leader for 20 of those years.

Martin-Forman is currently the CEO and owner of Martin-Forman Consulting in Fulton.

She said the best thing she has done and that which has given her the most joy in her life is to be the mother to her two children, Lisa and Zachary Martin. Both of her children also live and work in Callaway County.

Martin-Forman is married to Norman Forman.

She said she was very surprised when she found out about receiving the Settler's Award. Martin-Forman has been attending the Kingdom of Callaway Supper for many years.

"Obviously you don't do the things that you do because there is some kind of award, but you do them because you enjoy them and it feels like the right thing," Martin-Forman said. "But I can't tell you how honored I am because after having been here 42 years, I know that this county is precious and the people are precious, and for them to acknowledge me is just amazing to me."

The supper will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at William Woods University. The President's reception will begin at 5 p.m. at the Gladys Woods Kemper Art Center. Dinner will begin at 7 at the Tucker Dining Hall, and the program will begin at 8 at the Dulany Auditorium.

Tickets for the dinner are $20, and can be purchased at the Callaway Bank, Central Bank, United Security Bank, Callaway Chamber of Commerce, Crane's Store, the Fulton Moser's and Short Stop in Millersburg.

This year's Kingdom of Callaway Supper is the 117th annual event.
