Fulton girls tennis drops match at Tolton

Fulton girls tennis dropped a tough match against Tolton 1-8 Thursday in Columbia.

In singles play, the Hornets' Jayna Davison lost 2-8 to Claire Condict in the No. 1 singles match. Fulton's Madison Plybon lost 5-8 against Mary Cate Swain in the No. 2 match. The Hornets' Kier Henderson fell 4-8 versus Grace Monsees in the No. 3 match.

The Hornets' only match win occurred when Marwa Sherzad beat Ryley Freeman 8-3 in the No. 4 singles match.

For the No. 5 match, Fulton's Maelynn Kramer lost 3-8 to Catie Cameron. The Hornets' Gwen Austin dropped her match 0-8 against Abby Meyer.

In doubles play, Fulton's Davison and Hendeson lost 6-8 to Cayleigh Neuner and Monsees in the No. 1 doubles match. The Hornets' Plybon and Austin fell 0-8 against Condict and Delaney Coyle in the No. 2 doubles match. Fulton's Sherzad and Cameron dropped their match 3-8 versus Freeman and Cameron.

Up next, Fulton (4-11) will play North Point (6-12) in its Class 1 District 7 Tournament quarterfinal at 4 p.m. Monday in Wentzville.
