On Tuesday night, Fulton boys basketball opened its season with a 71-52 victory against Warrenton in Warrenton.
The Hornets outscored the Warriors 15-8, 20-18 and 20-10 in the first third and fourth quarters, respectively. Warrenton only scored more points in the second quarter and did so marginally, 16-15.
The Gohring brothers -- Walker and Rowdy -- led Fulton's offense. Walker recorded 20 points and five assists, while Rowdy notched 20 points and four 3-pointers.
Walker also had a great game defensively, registering five rebounds and three steals.
Colby Lancaster was another Hornet that played well Tuesday. Lancaster recorded 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
Troy Anderson and Tyler Oliver led the Warriors' offense, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
"Our guys really dug in and fought tonight," Fulton coach Justin Gilmore said. "Warrenton hung around and made it tough for us to pull away all night. I thought our guys really worked hard defensively and made great efforts to rebound the ball. Offensively we shared the ball really well and spread around our scoring. This group is super close, and it's fun watching them communicate and celebrate each other. "
Next, Fulton (1-0) will begin in the Montgomery County R-II Varsity Basketball Invitational Tuesday, taking on New Haven (0-1) at 6 p.m. in Montgomery City.
