EMS staff from Callaway County recently donated eight shoeboxes full of items to Operation Christmas Child.

This is a program that collects and delivers shoeboxes full of school supplies and toys to children around the world. Today is the final day of Operation Christmas Child's National Collection Week, which began Nov. 14.

Each shoebox costs around $30-40 each, plus $10 for shipping, according to a release.

Some of the items donated by the Callaway County EMS staff included soccer balls, toothbrushes, coloring books and lots of toys.

Charles Anderson, Callaway County EMS director, said in a release this is a great way for people to give back and help give Christmas joy to a child.

The Operation Christmas Child drop-off location for Fulton is the First Baptist Church at 701 Court St., and it is open until 10 a.m. today. The Holts Summit drop-off location is Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at 10864 Platinum Drive, and it is open until noon.
