The unofficial start of high school boys basketball season in Callaway County started with all four schools in the county playing each other in the Fulton Jamboree Tuesday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium in Fulton.

The jamboree games consisted of two six-minute halves.

New Bloomfield lost all three games, falling 36-18 against Fulton, 18-5 versus South Callaway and 18-9 to North Callaway.

Kicking off the jamboree slate, the Hornets dominated New Bloomfield in their victory.

Fulton shut out its New Bloomfield for the first 11:19 of the contest.

The highlight of the Wildcats' first game happened when New Bloomfield's No. 14 stole the ball and passed it to No. 5 for a layup in transition -- it was the final scoring play of the contest.

With each team's junior varsity squad on the court, the Wildcats could not do much against the Bulldogs, mainly due to South Callaway's defense. The Bulldogs shut out New Bloomfield for the first 10:30.

While the Wildcats couldn't score many points, they picked-pocketed their opponent. New Bloomfield notched six steals, though South Callaway stole the ball five times from the Wildcats.

Like the previous game, New Bloomfield couldn't get its offense going versus North Callaway. The Thunderbirds held the Wildcats scoreless until the first half's final minute.

After North Callaway took a 10-2 lead at halftime, the second half was closer. The Thunderbirds outscored New Bloomfield by just one point (8-7) in the final six minutes.

No. 22 on New Bloomfield made it challenging for North Callaway in the second half, scoring five points and stealing the ball once as well.

Heading into the first game, New Bloomfield will attempt to regroup before taking on Harrisburg at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Bloomfield. The two teams played each other in the opener last season; Harrisburg beat New Bloomfield 74-37 in Harrisburg.
