MU men to host SIU-Edwardsville

The Missouri Tigers’ busy start to the men’s basketball season continues tonight when they host SIU-Edwardsville at Mizzou Arena.

Game time between the Tigers (3-0) and Cougars (1-1) is 7 p.m. (SEC Network-Plus).

Missouri opened the season last Monday with a 97-91 win against Southern Indiana, then topped Penn 92-85 on Friday. On Sunday, Missouri was an 82-53 winner against Lindenwood.

It will be the fourth of seven home games to start the season for the Tigers.

SIUE opened the season with an 85-57 home win against Harris-Stowe last Monday before falling 81-76 on Saturday on the road against Purdue Fort Wayne.

Damarco Minor of SIUE was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday after averaging 16.0 points in the Cougars’ two games. The 6-foot sophomore guard, who was the NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year last season in leading South Suburban College (Ill.) to an undefeated season and the national title.

Minor is one of five Cougars averaging in double figures.

Missouri leads the all-time series 2-0. The Tigers are 38-1 all-time against teams from the OVC, including the wins this season against Southern Indiana and Lindenwood.
