Tuesday Mid-Mo wrecks cause injuries

A Chamois man was moderately injured Tuesday morning after striking a deer on his motorcycle in Osage County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Kevin Schaperclaus, 56, was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson Electra Glide westbound on Missouri 100 when at approximately 5:15 a.m., about 1,960 feet west of County Road 431, Schaperclaus struck a deer standing in the roadway.

Schaperclaus, who was wearing a helmet, received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Also Tuesday, a Brumley man received minor injuries after overturning a semi in Callaway County.

The patrol crash report indicates Louis Roberts, 32, was driving a 2021 Kenworth T880 southbound on Route HH. Shortly after 12:30 p.m., just south of County Road 203, he traveled off the right side of the road and overturned down an embankment.

Roberts, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries but refused EMS treatment on the scene. Damage to the semi was extensive.

A Centralia motorcyclist was moderately injured Tuesday after traveling off the roadway in Boone County, the patrol reports.

Cal Haveman, 24, was driving a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300 westbound on Missouri 124. At about 5:40 p.m., 53 feet west of Old Highway 63, Haveman failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the road and came to rest upright against a fence.

Haveman, who was wearing a helmet, received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
