Incumbent maintains sizable fundraising lead for Missouri's 3rd Congressional District

Over the course of less than three weeks, the Republican incumbent for Missouri's 3rd Congressional District raised more than 16 times the amount of his Democratic challenger.

Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer, who was first elected to Congress in 2009, raked in $48,210 from Oct. 1-19, according to the latest campaign finance reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Oct. 27. Bethany Mann, a Brentwood agricultural scientist and political newcomer, raised $2,954 during the same period.

The two candidates are running for one of Missouri's eight seats in the U.S. House of Representatives -- six of which are represented by Republicans while Democrats represent the Kansas City and St. Louis areas. U.S. representatives serve two-year terms with an annual salary of approximately $174,000.

Luetkemeyer, a St. Elizabeth native, had $2.59 million at the beginning of the reporting period and spent $178,122 over the course of 19 days. His campaign had more than $2.46 million on hand as of Oct. 19, according to the Oct. 27 FEC filing.

More than $33,500 of Luetkemeyer's campaign contributions this period came from political action committees (PACS) and $14,705 came from individual donors. Throughout the entire election cycle, more than $1.33 million has come from PACS and more than $1 million has come from individuals.

Luetkemeyer has raised $2.35 million this election cycle and spent $2.371 million on his re-election bid so far.

Mann entered October with $6,125 on hand and spent $4,692 during the course of the reporting period. Her campaign ended the period with $4,387 on hand.

All $2,954 of Mann's contributions this period came from individual donors. Throughout the entire election cycle, individual donors have contributed $9,847 to her campaign and PACS have donated $2,150.

Mann has raised $15,770 this election cycle and spent $11,382 on her congressional run so far.

The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
