A couple of Thunderbirds were in Montgomery City for a second straight week.

North Callaway juniors Brendan Reinhard and Caleb Rohrbach competed in the Class 3 Sectional 2 meet hosted by Montgomery County a week after qualifying after the district meet held in Montgomery County. Both fell short of the Class 3 state meet this week.

After a weather delay that caused the field events to start at noon, Reinhard finished eighth in the high jump, reaching a height of 1.85 meters or 6-00.75. He came close to his personal-best of 1.88 meters, or 6-02, that he achieved a week ago at the district meet.

Westminster Christian Academy’s Avery Jones took the fourth and final qualifying spot after reaching a height of 1.91 meters, or 6-03.25, while St. Charles West’s Braden Goellner won the event with a mark of 2.08 meters, or 6-10.

Rohrbach took seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 12.8 meters, or 42 feet. He fell short of the 13.39 meters, or 43-11.25, he achieved a week ago at the district meet.

St. Charles West’s Louis Dieckmann took the final state spot after throwing 14.20 meters, or 46-07, while Westminster Christian Academy’s Larry Minner won the event with a mark of 15.93 meters, or 52-03.25.
