Fulton’s Michael Holtkamp and North Callaway’s Andrew Crum will tee it up for 36 holes today and Tuesday in the boys golf state championships.
Holtkamp will play in the Class 3 state tournament at Sedalia Country Club, becoming the Hornets’ first boys golf state qualifier since Kory Masek in 2013.
Holtkamp, a senior, qualified for state by tying for 14th place out of 67 golfers last Monday in the District 2 Tournament at Franklin County Country Club in Washington.
In his previous seasons, Holtkamp placed 26th at districts in 2021 and finished 39th as a freshman in 2019.
Holtkamp will tee off in today’s first round at 9:21 a.m. on hole No. 10. His playing partners will be Wilson McDaniel of St. James and Ian Hollander of St. Charles West.
Crum will play in the Class 2 state tournament at Columbia Country Club, making his second straight state appearance.
In the 2021 state championships, Crum tied for 40th place out of 74 individuals, opening with a 102 but finishing with a Day 2 score of 85 to post a 187.
Crum advanced to state by tying for fourth place with an 83 in the District 2 Tournament at Norwoods Golf Course in Hannibal.
In his previous district tournament appearances, Crum, a senior, finished sixth in 2021 and tied for 20th in 2019.
Crum will begin his state tournament at 8:18 a.m. today on hole No. 10. His playing partners are Montgomery County’s Keenan James and Centralia’s Lawrence Bennett.
